Fraud & Asset Recovery Funding
Fraud and asset recovery matters are assessed case by case on their evidence, economics and reachable assets, subject to review.
Who is victim-side recovery funding for?
Businesses and individuals seeking to recover losses or assets following dishonest conduct may need forensic accounting, tracing, interim protection and civil proceedings. Counsel should identify an enforceable civil claim and distinguish it from a criminal complaint, prosecution or defence.
Legal advice on criminal conduct, reporting obligations and the interaction with civil proceedings must come from qualified lawyers.
Which forums and recovery routes matter?
Onshore UAE civil courts, DIFC or ADGM where jurisdiction exists, and foreign asset jurisdictions. Counsel should coordinate any related proceedings.
An award or judgment is not cash. We assess the location and ownership of assets, competing claims, protective measures and the cost of execution. Foreign recognition depends on the destination’s law and cannot be assumed. The relevant guide below explains the forum-specific questions to review with counsel.
What costs can be funded?
An agreed budget may cover lawyers’ fees, court or tribunal fees, experts, translations, notarisation, service and enforcement. The exact scope, stages and payment milestones are documented before commitment. Appeals, urgent applications and extra-budget spending should be addressed separately rather than assumed to be included.
Funding is subject to review, diligence and a signed agreement. Dubai Legal Funding does not offer cover or insurance for an opponent’s legal costs. The agreement paying your own case expenses does not eliminate third-party liabilities or any requirement to provide security.
What do we look for before deciding?
We typically consider claims of USD 2 million (approximately AED 7.3 million) and above, with budgets from USD 250,000 to USD 5 million. Larger budgets and portfolios are considered case by case. Claim value at least 8–10 times the required budget is one factor, not an automatic approval rule.
The review assesses documented merits, recoverable loss, available defences, a solvent defendant with reachable assets, a clear enforcement route and experienced counsel. The claimant and their lawyers retain control of the case. We work alongside chosen counsel and do not provide legal advice or representation.
How long does a review take?
The screening form takes approximately two minutes. An initial confidential response is provided within 3–5 business days under NDA. Diligence typically takes 3–6 weeks, followed by a term sheet within 1–2 weeks after diligence; agreement conditions and funding-release steps follow.
Urgent matters can be fast-tracked where possible. Obtain immediate advice about limitation, freezing orders and preservation of evidence. Do not postpone protective legal steps while waiting for funding. The initial answer is not funding approval, and no result or recovery is promised.
Common questions

Are recovery outcomes guaranteed?
No. A legal claim, freezing order or judgment does not guarantee collection. Merits and reachable assets are assessed before funding.
